Yesterday, Saturday, March 5, 2011, Michigan played Michigan State in basketball at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor. The
Wolverines won the game 70-63 to get their first season sweep over the Spartans since 1997. After the game the Spartan
coach took exception with Michigan player Darius Morris scoring on a layup in the final seconds of the game. The whining
out of East Lansing is the height of hypocrisy. Here are some examples, just since 2008, of the Spartans antics in the
final seconds of games (this originally came from a Wisconsin board, I don't know which one).
- November 28, 2010. Michigan State vs Tennessee Tech. MSU's Anthony Ianni attempts a jump shot with the shot clock
turned off and a 19-point lead.
- November 12, 2010. Michigan State vs Eastern Michigan. MSU's Keith Appling attempts a jump shot with the shot clock turned off
and a 28-point lead, Adreian Payne rebounds the miss and dunks it home.
- January 2, 2010. Michigan State vs Northwestern. MSU's Jon Crandell attempts a jump shot with the shot clock turned
off and a 21-point lead.
- December 30, 2009. Michigan State vs Texas-Arlington. MSU's Isaiah Dahlman attempts a 3-pointer with the shot
clock turned off and a 21-point lead.
- November 28, 2009. Michigan State vs UMass. MSU's Mike Kebler attempts a jump shot with the shot clock turned
off and a 40-point lead.
- November 20, 2009. Michigan State vs Toledo. MSU's Delvon Roe throws down an alley-oop with the shot clock
turned off and an 11-point lead.
- November 13, 2009. Michigan State vs Florida Gulf Coast. MSU's Austin Thornton attempts a 3-pointer with the
shot clock turned off and a 39-point lead.
- December 13, 2008. Michigan State vs Alcorn State. MSU's Isaiah Dahlman makes a 3-pointer with the shot clock
turned off and a 55-point lead.
- February 23, 2008. Michigan State vs Iowa. MSU's Durrell Summers attempts a lay-up with the shot clock turned off
and a 14-point lead.
- January 27, 2008. Michigan State vs Michigan. MSU's Durrell Summers dunks with the shot clock turned off and a 17-point lead.

Poem was penned by Bob Ufer in the run up before the November 1969 game, the first Michigan
vs Ohio State game of the Schembechler era. I think the story goes that he read it at a
pep rally or something similar before the game.
That was Saturday, November 22, 1969,
the day Ohio came to bury Michigan.
All wrapped in Maize and Blue,
The words were said,
the prayers were read,
and everybody cried,
but when they closed the coffin,
there was someone else inside.
Oh the Buckeyes came to bury the Wolverines,
but Michigan wasn't dead,
and when the game was over,
it was someone else instead.
22 Michigan Wolverines put on the gloves of Gray,
and as Revelli played the Victors,
they laid Woody Hayes away!
